PACU is a 12-bed unit, with 5 beds designated for Phase I recovery and 8 beds for Phase II. The unit consists of 7 cubicles divided by curtain and one private room with negative pressure for respiratory isolation patients. Each bedside is equipped with bedside and central monitoring/ recording equipment, which includes EKG, SpO2 and non-invasive BP pressure, 5 monitors have 2 invasive hemodynamic monitoring channels. Nursing and Anesthesia Services manage the unit. RNs are ACLS certified and educated with competencies relevant to pre-anesthesia nursing regarding the following areas/phases; Pre-op holding area Phase I post anesthesia care focuses on providing nursing care to the patient in the immediate post anesthesia period, and transitioning them to Phase II level of care, in the inpati
