Saint Louis University, a Catholic Jesuit institution dedicated to student learning, research, health care, and service is seeking applicants for a Division Director in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Geriatric Medicine beginning July 2019. Level of appointment will be commensurate with experience. The Division of Geriatric Medicine is one of the most prominent divisions in the country and has substantial clinical, teaching and research programs in place, including a fully-accredited fellowship program. Areas of special interest currently include: hormonal changes related to aging, pathogenesis and treatment of Alzheimer's disease, education of patients, the public and health care providers about issues related to aging. A new palliative care fellowship has been recently instituted under the leadership of the Division of Geriatric Medicine. Clinical services are provided at several hospitals, nursing homes and specialty outpatient offices. The division has historically had strong ties to the St. Louis VA Medical Center, which is affiliated with Saint Louis University and excellent opportunities for growth exist there too. The division is financially stable and poised to maintain its national prominence under appropriate leadership. The successful candidate should have appropriate board certification a substantial background in clinical or laboratory research.
